As most of you know, Ruth Mowry, our undergraduate advisor, retired in July. We’re thrilled to announce that Andrew Murray has been hired as her successor to advise English and Film students. Andrew is an alumnus of our department!

Andrew comes to the English department after spending 5+ years with Honors College at MSU. He is a two-time MSU alumnus, having earned a bachelor's degree in English from the College of Arts and Letters and a master's degree in Student Affairs Administration from the College of Education. Andrew enjoys stories in various forms (novels, non-fiction, Netflix/Hulu, podcasts), making connections, small talk and big talk, among other things. When he's not meeting with students, he likes to spend time running, playing basketball, coaching, sleeping, and spending time with his family.

Andrew will be out on paternity leave until mid-September. We want to be certain that your concerns and questions are addressed in the meantime, so until Andrew returns:
Sarah Whitaker, Advisor in the College of Arts & Letters, will hold walk-in advising hours for English and Film students.

Advising hours for English and Film students Tuesdays 9-12 and Thursdays 1-4,  starting Thursday, July 26 in 200 Linton Hall

Sarah’s primary focus during this interim will be fall semester concerns. Longer term advising can wait for Andrew’s return in September. Sarah will also be available via email: whitak41@msu.edu

All English or Film override requests should be sent to Marina Patrick, vallimar@msu.edu.
