Justin Wigard is a PhD student with research interests in game studies, popular culture, and children's literature, where he was awarded a University Distinguished Fellowship. His academic work examines the heroic tradition as it manifests across media and in different forms of genre. Recently, he has published on visual representations of superheroic women in several edited collections, and contributed a short biographical sketch and critical reception for the Neil Gaiman issue of Critical Insights.
